Re: Airbrush recommendation
The strange bit is that I *never* leave my airbrushes dirty! I always clean them out. If I spray some acrylics, I flush them out with plenty of water, then I take out the needle and wipe it on a paper towel. If there's still some color coming off the needle, then I'll disassemble the whole thing and use brushes to clean the inside. If I use other types of paint, I either use lacquer thinner or Alclad airbrush cleaner, and if there's still color on the needle, I disassemble the whole thing again and use the brushes.
Has anyone tried Mig Jimenez' Aircobra?

Re: Airbrush recommendation
Getting back to the original question - I started using Grex Tritium TG3 this past year and I love it!!!! My air brush use has increased significantly (previously used a siphon feed Pasch) It has a pistol grip that is really comfortable, it comes with three different sized paint reservoirs (with caps). You can get a fan cap for spraying large areas. Easy to clean.
Here's a couple cars that I airbrushed (bronze and green on the #4, blue and orange on the #1,and clear coat on both)

Re: Airbrush recommendation
Doesn't Grex use tiny/delicate Iwata-style nozzles, though?
Je ne regrette rien.

Re: Airbrush recommendation
According to a friend of mine who looked at the airbrush, the threading inside the front of the body is slightly cross-threaded.

Re: Airbrush recommendation
Neat looking little tool. Just ordered one. Should be here on Monday. Pretty sure I don't need it, but it will be great to have just in case.stubeck wrote: Hopefully the threads on the brush are fine. I’d get a new tip and see if you can screw it in at all, otherwise you may need a new body. I’ll find the tool I use with my iwata that helps a lot with threading it correctly.
https://www.amazon.com/Iwata-Medea-CL-N ... 2961&psc=1 is the noozle wrench I have. It helps keep it in line and also from falling off and going somewhere.

Glad to see that you overcame your dislike for airbrushing. Maybe you will give paint recommendations which are not Tamiya TS, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Re: Airbrush recommendation
While that wrench looks like it would make holding the nozzle easier, I don't see how it could help prevent cross-threading...

Re: Airbrush recommendation
...it helps by giving you a better hold of the noozle and also by slightly overlapping the end of the airbrush to help prevent the cross threading in the first place.

Re: Airbrush recommendation
I still plan on using the needle to guide it into place. This the nozzle resting on the needle, guiding it, and starting it with your fingers, you can't go wrong. The wrench is just to take it to snug which is how I use the wrench that came with it. I can also see it being helpful to take it off. My fingers just don't have enough dexterity anymore to be sure I will hang onto it.Jeep wrote:While that wrench looks like it would make holding the nozzle easier, I don't see how it could help prevent cross-threading...
