Paint colour for Coloni CF188

Post by wixy500 »

Hi all,

Does anyone know the correct paint colour for the 1988 Coloni CF188 from the Monaco GP?

I have the Tameo 1:43 kit which references a yellow colour "Tameo VS 5002", but Google has not helped me find anything.

The real car is yellow, but I suspect it might be a fluro colour, perhaps with a tinge of green in it.

Cheers
MW

Good idea! I didn't know the team still existed - I thought it went broke and the assets sold to Andrea Moda (which also went broke).

Anyway, thanks Noddy. Email has been sent.

Sweet wixy500. I had asked a similar question here some time ago but didnt get a conclusive response. Could you let me know if you get a response straight from the horses (wolves?) mouth? Would love to know what the answer is.

Be sure to post some pictures of the car if you get going with it. It was a funny colour as I remember it. Hard to describe. Looked good tho.

It's been over a week now and I've had no reply from them.

I sent email and Facebook messages in both Italian and English (and I can see they've read the Facebook message) but they haven't bothered to reply, not even a "sorry, we don't have that information".

Oh well, when it's time to paint, I'll just have to guess as best I can.

Excellent, thank you! I did not think their site would have extra info than what was in the original kit, but it does :D

Nearly 12 months on and I'm back working on this kit!

Based on reference pics in magazines & online, I felt there was a fluro element to the yellow, so ended up mixing my own interpretation using SMS acrylic lacquers that are made and sold here in Australia. It's a mix of about 2 parts plain yellow to 1 part fluro.
