1978 decals for Hasegawa 79?
HI,
I am finishing a Lotus 79 from Hasegawa, and I was using the Decalpool set.
Unfortunately, the decals are a mess.
Though advertised as being for both Hasegawa and Tamiya, they do not fit well (see the images) a lot of the decals were individual lines (the Olympus markings were made of individual parts!) and worst of all, the decals do not respond well to neither Microsol nor Testors decal softener, and have created small bubbles underneath the film which I am struggling to get rid of. (I have Humbrol's decalfix on order, we will see if that does the job)
So, I am half tempted to give the model the old brakefluid bath and start again.
Anyway, sorry for the sob story, what I meant to ask is; what are the best decals for the Hasegawa 79 for the 1978 season?
Preferably Dutch Grand Prix.
If the same manufacturer also has a set of Lotus 78 1977 decals (so that the colors match up) that would be the best.

Indycals has a set for the Hasegawa 79, swell as the Tamiya 78. Michael's stuff is highly regarded.

It is, and I do highly regard his stuff (of which I have bought several sets), but in all the best of respect, I do not like his Lotus 78/79 decals, as they have a black border on all parts and this gave me problems in the past.

Don't know if they are still available, but F'artifice made a set for the Hasegawa kit. FE-0053 You can see a picture on Mac's website. Sadly, Mac has not resumed his business AFAIK.

Thanks, but sadly, they are sold out on their own site, (http://f-artefice.shop-pro.jp/?pid=22347841 ) and on Mac's store.tubegenius wrote:Don't know if they are still available, but F'artifice made a set for the Hasegawa kit. Before the brake fluid bath, most decals pull right off with masking tape.

Hard to go wrong with Indycals.
Consider sending Michael and asking for his advice for matching the black border of his decals with your paint job.

E.jan made a set as well (#EJP833). Don't know if it's still available though.
