The door being taped might have more to do with the center of gravity. There isn't much to support the white metal especially with the large piece coming out the side which I assume is to attach the remaining piece. Regardless, this is one I definitely have to have in the collection.

Would be cool if the offered detailed and curbsite version for these "closed" cars. Nice car but can't decide if displayed open or closed since it has so amazing curves.

I'll make it closed.Replace the engine by some lego blocks, and display the engine seperately....

I think that's the one I regret not buying - but I was put off by the lack of engine and then even more put off when the transkit was announced and then gone before you could blink.
I wish the creator of the transkit could have turned it over to a production house to generate additional copies but the small size of the potential market for those sets is as limited as the market for the kit itself.

Seriously considering it, if the rear body work, does not close perfectly...

I understand the creator of the transkits wanting to "move on" and never producing the same kit again but that's a really strange way of doing business except that we're talking about a one-man operation who doesn't have the ability or resources to ramp up and work on new stuff while keeping a small back catalog. His business, his choice, just not really favorable to those who are not hard-core insiders who snap these things up as soon as they are announced.
