White metal polish?
I have a magnetic polisher, but it only works on small parts. I have many years of brass and aluminum polishing experience because the Navy is not only a job , but an adventure
The 917/30 Penske car is finished to a high standard. The frame is unpainted. The real frame is quite ugly with it's thick welds acting as gusseting. I won't add those to my chassis. Many products are out there and I'm willing to try new things. Scraping frame rails of mold lines, then using steel wool is messy but works great. But that leaves dozens of small corner areas. But can someone recommend a good polish for white metal? I have Never-dull and Brass-o but what else is out there Those are not intended for metal...I think
thanx

Re: White metal polish?
I use Scotch-Brite pads of various colors...I start with red=coarse...finish with the white=really fine...they can be cut to fit for use
anywhere...and they're affordable and last a long time !

Mother's Mag & aluminum Polish really does a nice job. Get a cone shaped felt tip for your dremel and wet the part and a bit of polish on the tip and it will clean up the corners very nicely. It will polish white metal to a chrome finish if that is what you want.

Re: White metal polish?
USA a brass brush in your dremel and so the whole part
I use sanding cloths or sticks to do the bigger parts in MFH kits
In this case I have already sanded all these parts, those needing polishing out will be sanded with cloths for paint polishing, but get the corners first with the felt or brass wire dremel option

Brasso is most definitely a metal polish. Hence the name.
Je ne regrette rien.
Re: White metal polish?
Flitz polish is also an excellent product.

Re: White metal polish?
This would be my go to method!! I think the question I would pursue is whether the polished parts, using this or any other method, needs to be clear coated to preserve the appearance.PeteJ wrote:Mother's Mag & aluminum Polish really does a nice job. Re: White metal polish?
I was working on the MFH Vincent which has a number of parts that need to be polished metal. First I tried my dermal with various polishing attachments and was unhappy with the results. The fenders look like polished metal on the real bikes. So I had three grades of TAmiya foam backed sanding pads on hand, I think 600, 1000, and 1500. I used each of those progressively, then switched to a 3000 grit polishing cloth. I regularly dipped the sanding pads in water to remove the metal as I went. I really like the results and they polished up like aluminum. You could do even more really using a polishing compound for the finish but I was happy with my results.
