Revell Benetton B194 1/24 Scale Schumacher
Finished today. This one put up a battle , from the decals to the parts fit. I chose to go curbside. The engine cowl was warped and didn't line up right. All an all I'm happy with the results. I knew this kit had a bad reputation and that was kind of my motivation to build it. It's basically OOB with some Scale Motorsport carbon here and there. The paint is by Gravity Spain as well as the clearcoat. Other paints I used were by Tamiya and Alcad.

Looks great. Are the dark & medium blue strips decals or painted?

The medium and dark blue are the kit decals. If I had access to the Shunko set for this car I would have painted everything but they were nowhere to be found.mazyen wrote:Looks great. Are the dark & medium blue strips decals or painted?

Your B194 comes out great! The blue decals looks so good on the body. You give me some confidence to use the decals.
This is a very challenging kit. I still have it in the box half done. As you say, the cowling does not sit well at all. This is a special car as it is Schumacher's first championship winning car.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. There are areas that kit decals do not cover. I had to sacrifice a decal that was supposed to be used on the rear wing to splice and fill in the areas that the decals didn’t cover. I just had to custom match a color that was close to the decal that was sacrificed. If I didn’t do that it wouldn’t have looked right. You should finish yours, it’s do-able.CK wrote:Your B194 comes out great! The blue decals looks so good on the body. You give me some confidence to use the decals.

I know exactly what you mean.Bonanza wrote:Finished today. This one put up a battle , from the decals to the parts fit. I chose to go curbside. The engine cowl was warped and didn't line up right. I also built the car earlier this year.
It was just a real battle and I don't know why Revell brought out a Rebox on such an occasion (25th anniversary of the Benetton Ford B194) without learning anything from the mistakes of the first model and making a few adjustments.
I think it's turned out really well and I have to say it's a great job! Be proud of it - there are some things I didn't do that well !!
I still replaced the seat belts and did some scratch build stuff on the engine ... it was the first model since over 10 years
Greetings Thomas

Re: Revell Benetton B194 1/24 Scale Schumacher
I built this 20+ years ago...and yes its not an easy one. From the green plastic, complex paint scheme, complex decals, poor parts fit and weak and fragile suspension (front push rods are still just hanging in on mine). Its a challenge.
So....yes...this IS the best example I have seen so far ( steinietrabi, yours aint that bad either ). You have made an ordinary kit into an extraordinary model.
I understand and appreciate fully the work you have put into this one.
Excellent model - well done! Place it at the front of your cabinet and be very proud of it.
Cheers
Tim.
