Williams1986 Red 5

Post by mazyen »

Hi,

Here's the second of my 4 COVID 19 lock down completed build.
Tamiya's Red 5 Williams FW11 with livery decals from Indycals & carbon decals from Tamiya. Some of the lines didn't align well but I'll live with it as the decals are very fragile.

Cheers
Lee

Looks great! How did you go about filling in the seams of that awful front suspension box?

I cut off the nose cone & parts C 1 & C 3, then glue in the B32 & B 33 & putty the seams up.

BTW, can someone tell me in what race is this configuration with the "MELINEX" on the front wing end plates ran in?

That is a very very nice clean build. I didn't finish mine as nice as yours, great job. Did you add an air duct to the sidepods too? And as another pointed out, you filled in the suspension area seams, and it appears you did something to get the engine cover and cowling to fit nicely and not warp up.

Do you have any photos of the engine?

Hi Steve,
This was meant as a curbside, therefore, I didn't detail the engine. Only added the side pods enough for them to be visible with the cowling closed. Here are some pics with it open.
Cheers
