1/24 Hasegawa Nissan R91CP Gr.C car
First kit using the airbrush, learned a lot,

Painted with Tamiya primer and acrylic paints,
Semi-gloss clear

Posted pics in the wip thread but figured I would post some in a completed thread.
Comments and critique welcome... don't mind the critique, really.
I did my best for my skills to date, but every time I do a kit I learn.
And using the AB was a bit of a big learning curve.

First time using Tamiya Panel liner on the body - used it a couple times on the engine, brakes, etc... need more practice here.

Surprised by the level of detail in the Hasegawa kit body.

Thanks for looking! And hope you enjoyed it, I really enjoyed building it, pretty proud of how it turned out.
Enjoyed the challenge of and learning how to use the AB.

Could a mod please move this to the "Sports Car" section... I mistakenly posted in here, sorry 'bout that.

Turned out pretty nice, especially for the first time using an airbrush! I`m impressed how good the fitting of the cowlings is, expected a bit more gaps but obviously the fit is tight and nice. Great job!

A very neatly build and finished car!

Your first air brush job looks much better than mine. :D Tamiya acrylic (water base ones) can sometimes be tricky to spray.

One curious question, should the finish be semi-gloss? From pictures, the car looks to have a gloss finish.

Thanks so much, really appreciate it. Learned a lot during the airbrushing process, several mistakes made but ended "ok".

Thanks GP!! I test fit the body pieces now, especially if they are removable. I used to fly through kits and would be embarrassed to take a pic of them let alone share them. None of the body is glued down, the front, main, or rear cowling... been trying to get them to all "behave", and can be a challenge.

Don't know about that... but thank you, sir. This was my guinea pig kit for the airbrush, and thank goodness, didn't make any detrimental mistakes with it.

They were definitely a challenge... there is a bit of orange peel (know what that is now) and tried to sand it back a bit. Had to re-shoot the red and the blue. Have a bit on top of the cockpit and there's a touch on the front part under the CALSONIC decal, but I know what it is now and how to try and avoid it.

And yes, probably, it should be a glossy finish but the LHS shop was out and I had semi-gloss at the house. Plus I didn't really want it to look like a new car on the showroom floor. I kinda like the way the semi-gloss looks - lets the color shine without being too perfect.

Thanks for all the comments, guys, really appreciate it. Looking to do better on the next one!!

It looks really good! Such an awesome beast of a racecar too. Nice work, and quick build too.

I still can't get over that they skipped including the engine. With such nice detail you'd think it'd make for a great model to display with the cowl off.

Hi,

Thanks for explaining your choice of semi gloss finish. It does it job. You have done a real good masking. I was wondering whether you used decal for the white.

I find it difficult to prevent orange peel using Tamiya water base acrylic color. I already use Tamiya retarding agent to slow down the drying. It does improve the finish. I still need to sand and polish the paint if I need a mirror finish.
