That is awesome! There's something about a curbside big-scale model that just looks cool sitting still. You've done a great job. Is it sitting on a block or shim of some sort under the floor to support all that weight?

Re: 1/8 scale Williams FW14B - Bespoke Commission Build
thanks a million guys...
Actually it weighed very little indeed, that was one of my big worries when I saw the suspension units and how flimsy they appeared, going through dry fitting they were literally only attached by the smallest of locator pins and I was sure they would bend under the completed weight of the car, but actually it sat really nicely in the end. One of the very few 'advantages' of it being 3D printed I guess (in fact probably the only advantage)!!!

Very good save and you made your customer happy. Sounds like a lot of money but CAD work like this takes a lot of time especially if you don’t have blueprints to go by. I’m assuming the Tamiya kit was the reference but he still has to measure it accurately since as you scale up dimension errors multiply. A quicker way is to 3D scan the original, clean it up in cad then scale it up. I often thought what it would take to 3D scan a 1/12 model and scale it up to 1:1. Then cut profiles to just build the monocoque with bodywork. The ultimate build.

Great work!
Your customer really must want it now and this big I'd probably wait until DeAgostini gets around to do it...
