Another old model. BT50

Post by alesi27 »

Finished about 3 years ago. Not as happy with how it turned out. Kit came from EBay and had been started. Lower sidepod panels and rear wing being the worst. Build was fine, finish was the problem, not helped by dropping the shell with wet paint. Shunko decals mostly but still ended up using the Tamiya blue panels on the nose and engine cover. Zero paints and 1k clear.

If you email them to yourself, you should be able to make the files smaller.

ANyway, if you post them at https://postimages.org/ when you upload them you may choose size...

Aha! It works! Model is mostly OOB bar some decals and a cigarette box foil heatshield under the turbo and exhaust. I did well to get the bodywork to sit as low as I could. I think when I do Patrese's car I'll just glue it down as I'm not sure I need to display the inners of both.

As this model has flaws from the build, (and from suffering a fall from a table at a model show) I plan eventually to replace it with another. I'll probably use Studio27 decals though so I won't have to use the Tamiya ones for the blue on the upper body. It will then most likely be stripped and repainted as the 1981 car. A parmalat Brabham should be no.5!

Anyone know how to stop this happening? Zero 1k clear over zero paint. Only happened over the white, and 2 big cracks each side rather than millions of small ones...

OK, by parts! :D
1:Good with the pics, as you see, it's realy comfy to use.
2: That Brab loks great, nice clean build. You'll benefit from a nwe gpa for Mr. PK, but there'll be ime for that :D
3: The cracks issue has been reported by many and with lots of paint/clear combinations, but quite usually with 2K clear. It belongs wiith that set of "horrors" together with yellowing, tyre degrading and so on, that threatens our models durability...

Look's very good, I have 2 of those :) . What's with the right Side Sidepod's dark blue Area, some kind of Flash?

If you mean the first pic then it's just reflection in the glossy finish.
