Merit 1/24 Vanwall VW5
Hi all,
It's been a while since I've done an F1 car, and it feels great to finish this one up. It's a Merit Vanwall VW5, which I bought from raceworks 66 from this very forum about 2 years ago.
The Merit hit was a whole lot of fun. Good fit overall and impressive quality given the kit is from 1957. It needed a little sprucing up on the detail side, so I scratchbuilt an interior and borrowed some wheels from the Tamiya 1/20 Lotus 25 kit. Paint is from Gravity Colors. I used some decals from Pattos Place. They weren't spectacular, but they got the job done. The little exhaust cover is from a San Pellegrino can (prickly pear flavor - the best!).
Glad to be back. Hopefully I'll have a Merit Ferrari D50 finished up soon as well.
Thanks for looking,
Jake

Hi Jake,
It is a very cool build. It is not easy to find kits for this era of F1 cars.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful VW5.

Very nice, I'd really wish someone would make a couple plastic 1/20 kits of 50s F1 cars; something like Tamiya Lotus 25 quality and detail level would be perfect.
