Hi all
As requested by another forum member this was my first proper foray into F1 model building, finally completing the project in February 2019 after starting it exactly 2 years prior. The end result is pleasing and gives no hint as to the trials and tribulations that I went through, including having to remove an entire coating of blue zero paints because of orange peel and having to re-spray in good old TS-44! Not to mention having to re-order a new Sprue from Japan because I damaged the active suspension actuators (a long story involving a vain attempt to replace these with Thunder Valley metal parts which was a waste of time and money).
I am pleased with the final paint finish which was only painted and then waxed (no polish or clear coat). I also like the rear wing end plates which I augmented with photoetch screw heads. I added these screwheads to the front wing, electronics boxes, wing mirrors and engine cover which I think adds a lot of realism on this model for minimum work.
The model is displayed in Tamiya Display Case G (a rare thing indeed!) without the engine cover at the moment. I have placed my new Lotus 49B alongside it for comparison which shows how much F1 advanced between 1968 and 1992 - the Renault V10 is tiny in comparison with the Ford DFV lump!

Thanks for showing it. A very nicely done FW14B indeed!
The quality of your FW14B is worth the time you spent on it.
This will be the kit if I every wander into building a 1/12 F1 car.

Wow!! Worth it so say the least and a beautiful build as well. I actually love the finish on it, ie., w/out the clear (and I'm a guy, of course I looked at the pictures, and THEN read your post ). Glad you soldiered on when the "mishaps" arose, too often I (used to) get frustrated and chuck it in the garbage and start something else. That is a gorgeous model of an iconic F1 car and driver in the year they got both championships, and it looks great sitting up high in the living room!
