Tamiya Ferrari F310B 1/20 Scale

Post by Bonanza »

Just completed the Tamiya Ferrari F310B as driven by Michael Schumacher. Decided on doing it curbside as it has engine cowling fit issues. Body color and clear are done with Gravity-Colors paints. It's basically OOB except for the seatbelts. Tire logos are done with MFH stencil kit. Was a fun build and went together well except for the front suspension, minor issue.

Very nicely done. I’m very familiar in making this particular kit a curbside and I’ve always been frustrated getting a good looking seam or panel line on both sides of the engine cover near the rear tires. Yours look great. How did you glue in that area and still leave the panel line? Did you add any support underneath that area?

This is a beautifully done Ferrari.

The stencil painted tyres look great.

Thanks Paul. Held that area together with some tape then applied tamiya extra thin quick set cement along the seam. From below I glued everything that was possible also to give it more strength .Let that cure out and then filled the seam with tamiya putty.Sanded it down which reveals the panel line. Put down some dymo tape along the panel line. Then I used a razer saw blade to scribe the panel line. That worked fine and dandy in that area but along the rounded panels I basically had to freehand with a mechanical pencil fitted with a sewing needle to scribe the panel lines. That was a learning experience.
I watched a video on youtube that was helpful as I didn't have alot of experience scribing panel lines. Here is the link https://youtu.be/KvdJ6R3iRRQ

Excellent build Bonanza, you could always build the engine and display it next to the car...
Seems a pity to leave it out altogether. :D
I've always believed that you should never, ever give up and you should always keep fighting, even when there's only a slightest chance.
