Protar LC2
This is my latest non f1 completion, the Protar LC2. I have had this kit for quite some timeand when I recently scored a Modelers LC2 kit, I started them both.....only, one fell by the wayside.
In the previous few Protar kits I have attempted to build, I have yet to get one of their decals off the paper, so I found a set of Colorado decals on ebay and gave those a try. They're pretty good except for the major flaw of no instructions on how they go together. I photocopied the sheet and dry fit everything and managed to piece the things together. The second problem was that they came up a tad short:
I had to take some donor material from the kit decals to fix that.
The two problems I had with this kit is,1. The front wheels look too small to me ( but I could be wrong) and 2. The glass bits are A W F U L. They are so thick that in scale, you could drive this car down to see the Titanic, but even worse was their fit. I had to do a lot of "molding" with my exacto to scrape off strips on the car body to get those things anywhere near flush and even then, because the parts are so thick, they stick out like a set of sore fingers.
But here it is, a rare LC2 completed. One of these days i'll get back to the Modellers kit, but I have a Fan Car coming that will get immediate attention! Thanks for looking!
Oh, one other thought; i'm pretty sure the rear wing is upside down! It looked to me that Protar put the guide holes on the wrong side. So this particular car would get great lift, which i'm pretty sure isn't the idea. They also seemed to mold both endplates for the same side! I had to drill through the holes, affix the piece then putty and sand... it was interesting....
Also, the Colrado decals are for the presentation car, hence the lack of numbers anywhere.

Hello, bossy122!
It's great to build up this tough kit!
"MARTINI" stripe is very beautiful.
Your having chosen right COLORADO decals.
I found out about this decal for the first time.
Thank you for sharing.

Re: Protar LC2
Great job on a very desirable build. I have the decals, but haven't yet got my greedy paws on the kit. At least I know where the problems lie, they're all clear !
Cheers

Very nice!
I have the metal version of this kit, and I can't get myself to start it, yet, from the look of the parts...

Re: Protar LC2
Looks really good, well done. It's hard to beat the Martini stripes on any car!

Re: Protar LC2
I hope the rear wing problems I had aren't the same for you, only in metal! The body isn't metal, is it? Getting the portholes to fit would be a lot more daunting as well. But good luck, at least you have an idea of what to be aware of.MarcoSaupe wrote:Very nice!

Super work on a kit I've been chasing for years. If I find one at least I'll know the problems.
