I have the pen but never use the tip. I open up the tip and use a paint brush to get the paint inside and hand paint the part. A wet coat still gives you a really chrome plate type finish.
Yes, it takes a long time for it to dry. This is probably the trick to give it the shinny finish. It is a water base acrylic type paint. Any clear coat for protection is better to be air-brushed on in light coats.

I tried pumping the pen tip, and also shaking the pen. Neither procedure worked for me. Next I try cleaning the tip.
