Tamiya Lacqer Thinner Retarder Question

Post by vanhookvintage »

Hi All,

I have a couple of bottles of Tamiya Lacquer Thinner. I would like to try Tamiya Lacquer Thinner, Retarder Type, but but it's difficult to get here in the US, and expensive. I see Tamiya make small jars of Retarder that can be added to Lacquer Thinner. Is that an acceptable alternative to the Lacquer Thinner, Retarder Type?

Thanks a lot,
Cheers,
Greg

In short, yes. The retarder will slow the drying time of the paint. Handy in hot weather if the paint is drying too quickly before it's flowed out properly, which can lead to orange peel texture..
