clear tube tinting?

Post by turbothirtytwo »

Hello dear modellers

How do you tint your clear vinyl tubes to become translucent color? I need green one for honda rc166 and filling it with tamiya clear green doesn´t work for me...

Thanx a lot for any tips

I think Tamiya has 2 clear greens. I have used the acrylic version thinned a bit with alcohol. Put one end in the green and suck slowly from the other.
Worked for me.

Check “Caddisflyshop.com”.
There are some colorful ( including several greens) clear tube in fish line catalog. I found them perfect for 1/12 motos.

We use to dye our RC car parts using Ritz dye and hot water. No reason why it shouldn't work. I think Crazy modeler made tubing in various colors.

Hello guys

Thank you for your imput. I tried to spray it with clear green from the outside and it worked. Also longer time I had idea in my mind to recreate reinforced garden hose and here´s the result... its made the same way like painted carbon. You will need some fine mesh, white primer and a bit of old skool metal to make it :)
