Tamiya Smoke over Mr Hobby UV Cut Gloss Clear

Post by Deegee13 »

Hi,

Has anyone tried the above?

If so, did you experience any adverse reaction between the 2 paints?

I have used the Mr Hobby gloss clear over Scale Motorsport carbon fibre decal and was thinking of making the finish a bit darker with a couple of fairly light coats of Tamiya smoke, but am worried that they may not be compatible.

If you thinning the Tamiya's paint with lacquer thinner, there is no problem at all. But, you must clear coat again if you want a perfect gloss finish, then.

Hope it helps.

If you are truly concerned, Tamiya makes an acrylic smoke. However, you could not top coat with UV Clear Gloss. It would have to be an acrylic clear like Alclad Acqua Gloss.
