it has been a while since I looked at your WIP. Your work is amazing. How in the heck did you do the legality plank?
Thanks man!

For the plank I first paint it with TS-46 Light Sand as a base, then used a fan brush with black...light quick strokes. Next mix some black with yellow but don't mix it up real good, sort of to a swirled look to it and then fan brush again. After those are dry I come back with a piece of cloth folded to the width of the plank and and saturate with denatured alcohol, blot the cloth nearly dry and with a quick light stroke go down the length of the plank. This blends everything in real nice. If the cloth is to wet you lose your "grain" so it does take some practice, and maybe a bit of luck! No worries, just come back with the fan brush and touch it up...try again.
I clear coated the plank and then wet sanded it to just 4K. In the end I will come back and do that again to dull it back some more. While polishing the rest of the bottom I think it tends to gloss out to much just from handling.
This is only the 2nd plank I've done so still perfecting the technique and experimenting with colors. Hope all that gives you a proper answer :!:

WIP: S27 Super Aguri SA07 - update

Post by chongman »

Been awhile... been busy :D

The under tray is done except for a final polishing with some Tamiya finish compound before assembly. This was my first go with the compounds and I must say they speed things up a lot!

I had to do a mock up to check it out....

Later in the week I will be masking the body to paint some black as a base for some carbon fiber decals so hope to be back soon

Thanks for checking out the build!
