Re: WILLIAMS FW09 Dallas winner KAWAI+some more...
So today again an update ... no standstill in the background
I've been studying the wings.
Since the rear wing in the kit is only available without the additional side wings and it also looks disastrous - the thicknesses just don't fit or details are missing - I decided to make everything new.
I cut out the side sheets from 0.2mm aluminum sheet. The main elements are thicker, so I made these from 0.8mm sheet.
I also made the sides of the front wing from aluminum sheet. The inner elements got redesigned.
To model the 3D parts, I used Modely F1 (thanks again to Rado for the support and the provision of the data in the correct scale!!).
The paper templates are simply great and allow an exact measurement and comparison with images and the original.
Simply great, that saved me a lot of time and I was able to read in the data for the CAD implementation.
I also continued to work on the cockpit and implemented the finished 3D print parts.
The shift linkage comes from the FW07. With the data from Rado, I also implemented a few sheet metal covers from the cockpit in 3D print parts.
I will now take another look at the springs and pedals and then the cockpit area should actually be finished.

You are taking Kawai's lump of clay and turning into a beauty. I really love your work on the rear wing!
The use of paper model as a template is an excellent idea.

I see the templates helps, I can´t wait to see a rear wing finished..

The finished rear wing will take a moment, because I first had to create a new basic body and also have to print it first...
So let's see if everything works like expected

This is very impressive work, I can’t believe how far you have taken a toy like model. Loving it.

At the top are the two wing elements, then the side surfaces below and on the left the middle bracket and the struts to the gearbox. Terrible!!
