1976 Tyrrell P34

Post by tehSAC »

Time to start the next kit! I actually picked this kit up a couple years ago at a garage sale. Sprues still sealed in the original packaging. I am wanting to convert this to the Japanese GP version but I’m having difficulties finding the detail parts to convert this kit. Mainly for the rear wing, cockpit, and engine parts. So unless I can find those it will be built as is. Any leads on those parts would be greatly appreciated. I’ve already purchased replacement decals from Indycals to replace the old yellowed ones. Working on the body sanding down mold lines and filling in the gap on the cockpit front.

Tamiya released a Japanese GP version of this kit a few years back. The rear wing for Schecter's car is photoetch as is the engine screen. Rain tyres too.

Sorry to say that you started on the wrong foot..You gonna spend way more money searching for the option parts then buying the correct kit..As said in previous reply, you much better of buying the Japan version..

Alex

Ps: Turn this one in another version there are plenty to choose from..AND the "japan" version also ran at Watkins glen and Canada;

Yea I’ve seen that. Oh well no biggie if I can’t find the parts needed.

Yea understood. I wasn’t seeking this kit out just happened to find it at a garage sale and purchased it. If I can’t convert it to the Japanese version easily then it will just stay this version.

I don't think there are rain tires in the Japan GP kit.

Never heard of that from Tamiya only from Fujimi.
No rain tires show at the Tamiya site: https://www.tamiya.com/english/products ... /index.htm

Thanks for all the information everyone! I think I'm just going to stick with it being out of the box kit. Nothing extra.
