Tamiya 1/12 McLaren MP4/6 w/ upgrades
Re: Tamiya 1/12 McLaren MP4/6 w/ upgrades
No it doesn’t touch the ECU and you can see a gap and the airbox sits nicely on its tray. Maybe I can file down the base of the airbox to lower it but don’t think it will make much difference.
Re: Tamiya 1/12 McLaren MP4/6 w/ upgrades
This past week I assembled the radiators with of course the Top Studio upgrades which made a big difference to the stock Tamiya bits. Certainly more realistic with more plumbing so it was worth the upgrade if you intend in building this model. The only difficulty I encountered that the TS instructions doesn’t make it clear is the water tubes that lead to the engine so I glued those on afterwards to get the correct orientation to the engine. Apart from that it was pretty straightforward. Oh another thing, it is better to glue the AN fittings on top of both the oil and water pump before you glue them on to the engine. Those are the AN lines that go to the oil tank on top of the gearbox. I fixed the issue with the airbox which wasn’t much of a problem. I still need to add air temp sensor to the rear of the airbox.

Great progress, the TS Studio parts make a big difference and your clean work does the rest to build a top model.

Some nice work going on there.
How did you fix the air intake problem?
PS shame to not show your great work, the pictures should be bigger!

I cheated on the airbox by shopping it at the top to get it lower then the roll bar. I then sanded it back to shape and spoiled CF. All I need was like .5mm
Unfortunately my iPhone is all I have and this forum will only allow me to submit medium size pictures but yeah it doesn’t due my work justice. I must say it looks nicer in person.

You can try and upload to image hosters like imgur. There you can use whatever size you want and for the forum it will show a scaled version that when you click will open a larger version.
Other than good work on the Macca! Ihave to get me one of these some day.

Hurry up Roman if you don`t have the transkit, as far as i know they are limited and might not come back! The Tamiya kit will come back one day, but the transkit maybe not.
Take a stand!
