1/12 Alfa Romeo 184T Monza 1984

Hi Everybody,
this is my first topic on this great Forum.

I love 80s era of F1 and my favourite scale is 1/12.

Since I have some interest in 3D modeling and Illustrator drawing I started to design my own EURORACING - Alfa 184T late season version.
This evo step has longer sidepods and, in my opinion, a nice and clean shape.

I have access to an FDM 3D printer which I choose for the body of the model.
No full detail this time, I plan a nice curbsided model.
First parts printed:



The finish of this 3D print method is raw and needs a lot of sanding and filling:

Meanwhile, drilling holes around and some fiberglass:





Then is wheels and tires time. I tried for the first time to use silicone and cast resin and it was a good attempt. Cloned Minichamps 97T wheels. Tires are 3D printed then turned and primed:





Test fit on the donor car:



I also designed and printed all the details for transmission, suspensions, wings and cockpit. This time using a resin printer:





And this is where I am now:









Waiting for paint and decals, this hard time requires a lot of patience.

Looking good Redbox, nice prep work too. One of the drawbacks of 3D printed items is eliminating the fine lines.

Wow, impressive work! Is the first picture of the seat the "raw" version as it came out of the resin printer (which one btw?)? If so that is impressive. The FDM result seems like a lot of elbow grease was necessary to get rid of the steps

Roman, the first picture of the seat is already sanded and painted semi gloss black. But the part was 80% ready straight out if the printer, not so much work required compared to FDM.

That is amazing what you're doing there. I have the same idea and also have some nearly fininshed 3D projetcs in 1/12 (914/6, FW08c) but turning that into a printable object is so much work and put it on hold becasue of lack of time....honestly it's just lazyness

I do 3D for a living so the actual building is not the biggest problem but gathering references is sometimes impossible and then turning the 3D model into a kit is a LOT of work.

I fully understand you.
This kind of build took a lot of time, starting from gathering reference to draw the model.
I found really hard to have good measurements and pictures for this car.
At first I printed a body that was completely wrong in shape and dimension.

Good to do some trials with putty.

Then, you have to work a lot on post-production.
I have only 2-3 hours each week for modeling and not every week I am inspired.
For this reason I started 1 year ago (!) and I'm still there...

I want to see the FW08c, one of my favourite!

that's a strong entry on the forum. Gonna look awesome.
If you donT have plans for the decals (since I am late for the wheels), I can help there.
I made those for a fellow member, so they may be printed again...
