Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9
Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9
As I promised to start within a month when I bought these sets here's the first picture of my work in progress on this model.
I was a big fan of this era in Group C and with my recent build of the Peugeot 905 I now start with the Sauber Mercedes C9
After that The Jaguar XJR-9 and Mazda 787B Renown are also waiting to be built.
I had to wait a bit because I purchased a PE-set for this set. This will be the first time I will use an airbrush for painting and the first time I use PE parts.
so a new challenge for me.
I started with the bottom for my first airbrush job. I hope you like it

Btw, @gderoo here's some inspiration for you.
Buddy built this and gave it to me - he's knows that I'm a sucker for all the Group C cars, love'em!!
(and if it's not ok to post models in other people's threads let me know and I'll remove it)
After seeing your 905, I can't wait to see how this one turns out!!

Next step
the bottom plate got a chrome coat
brake disks (PE) and some painting on different parts in prep phase.
It is the first time I use PE parts. Currently I use superglue to attach the pieces together. But
when the part isn't exactly positioned it is hard to correct it as the superglue sticks too fast for adjustments
any tips on this are welcome !
I would like some tips on how you can put the glue to the parts so that it isn't to much. And what kind of glue
works best for it. As I had some issues with the setting time of my superglue which is too fast... I have no time to adjust the position of the part when it isn't correctly placed at once.

Re: Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9
Good update. I've seen a lot of people use two part epoxy for these parts, giving a strong bond but a bit more time to get it perfect.
Re: Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9
It has been some time as I slowly progress with this one.
Experimenting with PE parts. But it doesn't always seem to go well with these parts.
So engine has been mounted onto the chasis, front and back brakes,
Drivers booth. I us the PE parts if it works.
The rear wing construction will be done with the original parts because I messed up the PE parts.

Re: Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9
Looking good, just something I have always liked about this car...
Re: Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9
I use PVA(white glue) for attaching etch details like the brake disks
