Improving the Pauls Model Art Ferrari 310 1/12
Unfortunately there are no 1/12 scale Ferraris of the Schumacher era, except the 2002 car by Revell and the 310 of 1996 by Paul's Model Art. Besides these two models, which are not really satisfying for a demanding modeler, MP Models from Italy made all Ferraris from 1999 to 2004. But they are from really poor quality- only the 2001 car is halfway satisfying- and it's a hard challenge to realize a model of acceptable quality. All MP models are in my stock but never built them, and I will see what to do with them.
The 310 from Pauls Model Art is a metal cast curbside car with a nice shape and seems to be a good base for further improvement. So I decided to make an attempt when I discovered a decal sheet by Museum Collection in scale 1/12 of this car. The model represents the car from the second half of the season with the high nose. But I don't like that high nose and want the car of Schumacher's epic victory in Spain, leading the field for more than a minute, the first Schumacher win for Ferrari.
So these are the main points on the to do list:
Base model: 1.Replacing the high nose by a low nose 2. Complete construction of the suspensions

3.Improvement of the under tray and diffusor
4. Replacing the slick tyres by rain tires
5. Turned fuel inlet valve instead of the decal
6. Eliminating the production related gaps at the body
7. Replacing the wrong steering wheel
8. New brakes and discs and some other details-

The main sources besides many others:

For information; Museum Collection offered a 1/12 scale kit of the F1-2000 for a few years long ago. It's all white metal, but very detailed and somewhat sought after by people who are fond of the F1-2000 (like me). It's the car that ended a 21-year-long waiting period for the WC, and I love the shape of it, so I found a kit and bought it a few years back. After taking a close look, I can recommend it. It's nicely done.

Very cool project. I did prefer the low nose, too, so looking forward to following the progress on this one.

Car is complete dissembled.
I removed the original paint from the metal cast body in an acetone bath and cut off the high nose with a jewelers saw.

The upper and lower body parts are glued now and the gaps at the side walls are filled with 2K car putty.
I formed a new nose with gypsium, painted it black for better handling when it will cast in a silicon form. At the end the nose is cast in resin.

Nice progress!
I like the shape of that car a lot but the late season nose is horrible, so I appreciate your choice
