Thanks or sharing these photos! They'll be very helpful for me, and others, in the detailing the model. what a treat to be able to get up close to such a rare machine.

A little update, its time to start thinking about applying some color to the bodywork so I decided to test fit the body to see how things will fit together. there are some odd gaps and pieces crashing into each other so some trimming and adjustments will need to be done.

I've decided to remove all the rivets in the fuel tank because the metal casting is pretty rough and I'd like to have a good polished paint job on the car. the only way I see to do that is to remove the rivets, paint the bodywork then install new painted rivets. a lot of work but I think the end result will be worth it.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

My favourite type of GP car.

Looking forward to seeing it in red :)

Just a small update, I've been painting and polishing the bodywork which is time consuming.

Image
This is an example of why I decided to remove the rivets on the gas tank. you can see the lines in the bottom of the tank which I didn't refinish as it won't be seen much. I assume the lines are from the 3d printed master. it would be nearly impossible to get a smooth finish without removing the rivets. the other piece, the lower side of the tank looked the same before refinishing. I would not have been happy with the result. it does create a ton of work though.

Image
rivets and washers (in the background) ready for paint and primer. there are scale hardware RT12 rivets and RB motion #1252C washers. the washers come on a rubber backing that I think will make them easier to paint.

Image
other painted bits.

Image
all painted, I hope I can get those washers off the backing ok. we will see.

Wow, that must have been a pain in the ...youknowwhat. Removing all the rivets and maybe the boltheads
or whatever the larger thingies are and then smooth out the surface, drill the holes, paint the rivets and
insert them.
I can't remember exactly, but the tail of the 250F had like a million (or what feels like it anyway) rivets.
I once did a texture for a 3D model of this car (GPL'55 mod anyone)... And yea, I'm on of the rivet counter
types... fun times.

The nose cone in one of the pictures makes me itch to see the assembled car. It will be another master
piece for sure. Top notch work !
Cheers,
Roman
