Thank you for posting the links, I hadn't seen any of those. The safety wires are clearly there in several of the pictures. You've been very helpful!

Glad to hear that i could help. I would give it a try too, looks quiet nice on a model, a small tiny detail which brings such a model to life in my view.
Keep your great work up, love your kind of modeling with so much attention to details especially your machined parts! :)

Edit: Found some more pics and insteresting stuff maybe, an articel about a british modeler building a 250 from scratch:

Next a link for a for sale 250f, a restored one with another solution for the wires

But now BTT, don`t want to highjack your build Thread

Work continues on the 250F

I've completed both the front and rear chassis.

Image
Image

and put them together, I assembled them before I put the rear suspension on because I was concerned about the ride height, there is nothing to really set it so I wanted to finish the frame and take some measurements to figure out where to set the rear suspension. I think it turned out fine

Image
Image

in order to set the height I had to build a front and rear wheel so I would know the height.

Image

I think it will look good.

Something I'm experimenting with is doing a turned dashboard. I believe it is done with a wood dowel in a mill on full size cars but I'm not sure.

Image

I tried it on a scrap piece of white metal with a brass dowel.

Image

The circles left are a little to imprinted so I'll find a piece of wood to try, the white metal is quite soft.

Image

and the circles may be a little to big as far as the scale goes.

Excellent work on your 250. Keep it up. There are 1/43 models from Renaissance Models, Grand Prix Models shows several different liveries of this.

Well after trying to apply the engine turning pattern to the dash with a brass rod and a wood dowel, both with some kind of polishing compound to create the swirls and almost giving up, I tried this little rubber, off brand roto tool bit that appears to be hard rubber. I trimmed the point off to give it a flat end and it worked pretty well!

Image

I fixed the dash to a block of aluminum with some double sided tape and came out with this.

Following your WIP with great attention
Fantastic job; will wait till the end to begin mine (streamliner version)
About the turned dash, I can send you some pics of the method I used for a 1/8 Bugatti 35 (Art Collection Auto), I don't know how to post pics, if you give me your email I will send

Awesome work. Your build up of the steering wheel is amazing.

Back in 2007 at the Canadian F1 GP, there was a 250F on display. It was actually on its way to a historic race the weekend following the F1 weekend, and the transport truck driver had unloaded it (I guess so that they could take their Ferrari Challenge race car out of the transporter) so that fans could enjoy it. According the the transport driver, at the time it was valued at $3.5 Million and apparently had been driven by Fangio and Moss.

After having a long chat with him, he let me loose to take all the photos I wanted. So here is the link, perhaps there might be something of use:
