1/20 1979 GB GP winner Williams FW07
Hi there! I have to confess that I'm not a F1 modeling enthusiast: I do modeling by 45 of my 50 years but I built just a couple F1 ever in 1/20 scale.
To cut down a long story after 5-6 years of airplane modelling (went crazy with WWI airplanes with all those million wires elsewhere...) I needed something different.I sometimes browsed your forum in anonymous form, searching infos or looking for good builds. Now, since I'm feeling a lot of fun, I thought was the time to give something back and offer a small contribution, hopefully you would like.
Like I said I'm not a F1 expert so my concern is to do something stupid on this car, so if someone have advice or infos aboutthe Silverstone's 1979 winner please letme know and I'll try to do my best to use such infos.
So far my start:

And at this point started the real fun....

Hi Gio,
Nice to see you here at F1M, welcome. I've seen you on AF for years.
Just wondering why the resin Cam Covers? More importantly, why change them? If my memory serves me correctly the kit comes with cam covers that say Cosworth on them which would be correct for Williams cars of this era. Ford embossed cam covers are what the "Non-Factory" teams used. Williams was considered the Cosworth "Factory" team during this time period that is why they were the only team in the paddock with the Cosworth embossed cam covers. Just thought you might like to know that since this is such a historic car being Williams F1 first GP victory and all.
Good luck with the build!!

Thanks a lot guys for the warm welcome.
@Icon_modeler: thanks for the explanation, I found several reference images, also from auctioned cars from good traders where they say the car is original: I can't see a single one (seing also the avayable videos from those years) withthe Cosworth camcover, this is the reason becouse I cloned the Lotus 79 one. But I'm well disposed to replace them with the stock one if someone own original pictures that shown that , thanks

As far as i know, Williams ran with cosworth camcovers because of their Saudi sponsors.
Ford being American did not go to well in those days in the saudi world.

Just to confuse the issue I recall they ran covers without either logo at a couple of races

Re: 1/20 1979 GB GP winner Williams FW07
The attached picture should show the camcovers well enough to identify Cosworth. The picture was taken at Silverstone, so it is exactly the version you are building.
Before you start to do the decal job, make sure to look for reference pictures again. IIRC the placement for that race was slightly different to that of the Tamiya instruction.
By the way:
I am impressed by your work so far. I see a highly detailed model coming!
