1/12 MP4/6, updated 8/6/18

Post by Sennafan »

Again thank you Fatfrog for this one

Tamiya kit of course

Image

With Top Studio kits:

Engine
ECU
Front suspension
Cockpit
Antennas
Brakes

Added:

Thunder Valley:

Brakes
Front suspension
Metal parts

Will use brakes from Top Studio for another project

So all resin parts from TS sets soaked in Bleche White per usual

Bare plastic cowling assembled, sanded and painted with TS-26 out of the can
Left to dry for 10 days, and then painted with TS-36

All other parts painted with TS-29, 26, 36 and mixtures of metallics

I will post pics tonight of where I stand

So as promised

Overall spread, next to my WIP MP4/8

Image

Body is still drying, for only the second time in using TS-36, I got a can that was too red, I have overcoated in TS-96 (used for 787B), and will see how it looks

I have used inserts here shown in silver that will be plated, thin plastic sheet

Front wing

Engine and cowling, here just paint for now

Image

Kit exhaust, awaiting detail painting , TS intakes

Image

Pre paint on fittings using same paint as I found on 917/30 build, TS axle kit prior to detail painting

Image

TS supplied suspension arms with PE built up and turned brass detail

Image

Tamiya intake parts with added TS details in process

Alex, fantastic work as always. When you use the TS paints, do you use them straight from the can or do you decant and then airbrush? I ask because my recent rattle can experience gives me nothing like as good a finish as you regularly achieve.
Keep on with the updates.

I heat the cans with hot tap water

And yes I use them exclusively from the cans unless I have to mix then I use the airbrush

I wish you all the best for this project and do not hesitate to ask me in case because I kept a lot of spare parts (Topstudio, Tamiya and decals) from my own model

Good job and a qick start! :)
Looking forward to see the TVD front suspension parts in place, what do you think, are those TVD dumpers etc better looking then the Top Studio parts or are you only using the the other TVD parts for front suspension? Never seen them in comparsion, if you have those TVD dupmers too, please can you take a pciture of them in comparsion with the Top Studio ones? Would be great to see the differences.
Take a stand!

Here is a major update

Got the TV parts, love the brakes, and machined from suspension rockers and hardware

Using mostly the TS set for other parts

I’ll let the pictures tell the story

Here is the engine, in process

Image

Image

Image

Here are the radiators and front brakes, used kit parts for radiators with PE from TS sets

Image

These rotors are beautiful and come as is color wise

Image

Front suspension build up in process

Image

And then the cockpit, used undercolor and left over 97T decals in interior tub
