Re: Fujimi 1/20 Ferrari 641/2
Nice work on the nose I started my kit about a year ago the undertray and the body are so twisted I stopped working on it for now. It is the worst I have seen in a plastic kit. Good luck with the rest of your build.
Regards,
Dave

You are coming along great and doing a nice job on what is, I am sure, a frustrating kit.
I started the Fujimi F2012 and it is like the kit was designed by people who have never actually built a model.

Beautiful finish. This should look good in the showcase.

Re: Fujimi 1/20 Ferrari 641/2
Didn't touch this model much since I created this post, until 2 days ago when I had the urge to buckle down and be as productive as possible. I worked on on the carbon fibre tub and the engine/gearbox (as well as that annoying part of every model where you need to prime a million small pieces and paint them semi-gloss black).
As I won't be using CF decals, I'll be using a paint combination I devised when working on my Ferrari 640 to simulate carbon-kevlar colour for the tub. I'm happy with how it turned out.
First I give the tub a basecoat of Alclad Pale Gold
Then a very light mist coat of Zero Paints Carbon Fibre Grey
And then finally a layer of Alclad Smoke to darken it.
I haven't taken pictures yet but I've also painted that fuel tank area gloss black.
Next up I painted the engine and gearbox components loosely based off of the Fujimi instructions and reference photos. I don't mind if it's not 100% accurate as long as it makes for a good looking model. Again, I think the engineering of the engine and gearbox makes for difficult airbrush painting and masking, so I added in details with a brush after.
Mocked up post paintbrush (with some transparent blue brush painted onto the hose joints). You can see everything else looks quite plain as-is.
After painting with a trusty Tamiya Size 0 brush. Under a macro lens of course it doesn't look the neatest, but as a complete package I'm very pleased with the results.
Pretty much the only exceptional aftermarket enhancement I got was these Top Studio air funnels. For $12 the difference is night and day over the one-piece chrome plated plastic ones provided. I also added some MFH shrink tubing from the...oil tank? (I'm not actually that knowledgeable of car mechanics)
So here's the mostly finished product:
As usual, hope everyone enjoyed my image dump

Very nice
The last picture shows your attention to detail
This kit always impressed me, like a scaled down Tamiya 1/12

Great progress ! I am very impressed with your brush painting skills. Those dumpers look amazing.
I could never get molded on springs painted that clean. Keep the productivity going strong.
