Re: 1/12 MFH Mclaren MP4/8, updated 7/30/18
I have used SMS decals on over 100 kits over the last 15 years
I like their patterns and the way they conform to curves
About 5 years ago, I think, maybe longer, i kept running into cracking problems with several of their batches, especially the 1/12 scale stuff and I looked elsewhere
I know they fixed this problem, but I found others that I liked more, especially the companies that used Cartograf which was Studio 27 and KA, KA have now deviated from this, but their decals have worked great on my last few builds, and I will buy Cartograf ones whenever I can find them
I still have older SMS decals in 1/43, 1/20 and 1/24 in my stash and they work fine with no cracking

Here goes another update
This time the engine and tranny
Added fittings, detail and wiring, started
Added carbon fiber sections to engine cover per references
Close up on details added for wiring
Assembled rear hubs and brakes, made my own axles with copper tubes
Assembly now taking shape

well, i`m missing the details finaly. Too many parts in the same way painted, no different shades of different materials, a bid disapointing in comparsion what might be possible!
Not to critic too much, but i miss a lot on it, maybe a too quick build.

Take a stand!

Thank you for the constructive feedback
I Hadn’t applied washes and other colors yet to these parts,
Thar was done today prior to adding all the wiring and suspension

So here is a brief update to show where I am on one side of the rear end
Now with more detail painting done and assembly
Instead of kit parts, used detail master braided hose, smallest, with thin copper wire inside, painted with TS44 and dull coat, for hydraulic lines
Used reference photos not instructions fir some placement

The dampers/actuators for the suspension look amazing. Love it.

Your progress looks fantastic.
By the way, is there a reason that the word M@r!b*r* is blotted out on this website?
It's freaking idiotic.
