Frame looks great. How does this assembly compare to the 917K frame?

Completely different. On the 917K I was able to solder most of the joints. On this one, you build the frame around the engine so I used super glue. The fit also seems to be better. We will see when it comes time to put the body on. The Hippy did not fit so well.

Very nice! I like the tones on the fan. The translucent quality is something I like from MFH, but I think their parts need some help. They look much more realistic on yours. Sure wish they would make their distributor caps in resin.....

Worked on the rear suspension today. The detail is wonderful. Now on to the front end.

Re: Daves's 1/12th MFH 917/30
Amazing progress, another stunner for your 917 (/Porsche) collection to be proud of. I would love to see your
entire Porsche collection one day . Loved the Hippy back when...
However, I do have one question that is not particularily directed at you, but at anyone in the know about
the /30. I have seen several recent pictures with anodized blue parts, parts of the rear framework / struts
and of course parts of the turbo assembly (intake side return from the turbos to the heads), etc.. I am just
wondering where those colours are coming from. I mean, I have seen the Canepa restoration and saved the
pics and yes, the colours are there. But for the life of me, I haven't found any period pics of the car where
those colours (on the intake pipes) can be seen. The frame and struts to the rear suspension - I completely
agree with - have been anodized blue, but other than that.
The only pic so far that I have of the car shows the intake tubing in silver as I would expect them to be,
given that the temperatures in them would be pretty damn hot, especially on the non-record car without
intercoolers and all.
Proof (no idea where it was taken, but it sure calls period to me):
Just saying, not want to spoil anyone's day. It just feels that this might be another of those small details
where today's restoration stray from the orginial (seen it on Ferraris a number of times). Please prove me
wrong

Re: Daves's 1/12th MFH 917/30
Worked on the 917/30 this weekend. The tub/chassis is almost done. Need to break out the airbrush and start painting some blue and yellow. As expected, things need some tweaking and cutting to get them to fit.
I did some test fitting on the rear body and it does not appear to sit down over the engine. The same thing with the 917LH Hippy. I display it with the rear open for that reason.
