Re: Daves's 1/12th MFH 917/30
The 917/30 has come a long way since the last posting. Many challenges with the paint and body fit. I am using Zero paints, which are fine. For some reason the MFH resin has patches that react with the zero paint, even over Tamiya primer. I have cleaned it in my normal way. I even wiped it with lacquer thinner. I finally tried to spray it with tamiya blue. This did not react so I sprayed the zero sunoco blue over it and it came out fine. Had the same problem with the yellow.
I chose not to use the rivets in the kit. Too soft. I used some left overs from one of my many MG Models kit. They worked great.
I am glad I test fitted the body before permently fasting anything. The firewall behind the seats need some major adjusting so the piece over the roll hoops would line up with the doors,
I also forgot to paint the small flat piece in front of the radiator grill blue. Solved the problem by painting a thin piece of plastic stock tamiya blue with clear blue over it. I think I could have used this method for the whole car. It matches Sunoco blue really well. Chrome yellow also matches. Now on to the livery.

Looking good Dave, and well done overcoming the modelling hurdles nice to see I reckon yours will be the first one finished!
Can't wait to see the decals on are you going to clear over them or just leave as is!
I guess you don't really want a reaction with the blues again!
