Very nice subject and a timely one. A friend from Classic Plastic gave me the same kit with all those goodies extra (except the books) and a can of the Tamiya paint for it. You should see how surprised I was when he told me that all of that was a gift for me.
Well, I will follow your w.i.p. with great interest and hope to learn a few things here and there to apply on my project.

I would love to take the Castrol decals off your hands if you don't use them. I just ordered this kit, along with the SMS and S27 detail sets and carbon fiber decals. I would much rather build the Castrol than the Silk Cut

Of the 3 references you mention, I am familiar with the Bamsey title and the Haynes manual. Builders are sometimes less aware of
This publication provides much more specific insight into the wiring & plumbing of the XJR V-12 engine with detailed schematics and description not readily apparent in other references. Just thought it might be worth sharing as you appear to be very into this project.

As usual with this wonderful site, coincidence strikes as I've just started a dual build of the Le Mans Jay XJR9 and a modified version of this kit to represent Brands Hatch 1000km of '88. I'll be post a wip on here too
With the Brabham completed, I can turn my attention to the Jag.
I picked up a couple of other bits and pieces... the Haynes Book on the XJR9LM is very good indeed - I can very much recommended it. Oh and thanks for the reference on the Speed Details site, I have ordered a copy
I have also ordered the purple paint from Hiroboy and also picked up a couple of extra detail items for the trumpets and headlights, mighty impressed with these - they were both ordered from scaleproduction.de
I have a couple of commissions to complete and then I will be jumping on this and getting started!
I too am building this one. I am using the rare S&S upgrade kit, the Studio 27 etched set, MFH, and Top Studio hose ends, I am cutting my own CF decals. Eduard Belts.
I won't be doing a WIP on mine, but I will be watching your build.
I have to clean up these parts.

Great minds my friend... although my plan was to only cut out one door, and I'm not 100% sure I want to chop the nose. So how did the cutting go - I'm guessing not easy right? Did you use Tamiya's hand saw or something different?
