WIP: 1:24 Tamiya Jaguar XJR-9LM
I normally don't like to start another WIP until I have finished the previous build, however as I'm just waiting on a part for my 'Lobster Claw' build - http://www.f1m.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=28927 I thought I would start getting everything together for my next one, which, after a great deal of time looking through the pile of kits in the loft I finally decided on the 1988 Le Mans winning Jaguar XJR-9LM.
The plan for this is full detail. I am considering opening the doors similar to the Porsche 917 build I did a few years back, however there doesn't seem to be any after market doors available so I will need to use the cut out ones which may prove troublesome, or I fix one in the open position. Over time I have picked up a bunch of etch sets for the kit and a C/F template sheet which will hopefully help as this car has C/F everywhere! I have also just ordered the Renaissance set which has replacement tobacco details, a few other nice resin/cast details as well as yet another etch set
I already have a good pair of reference books for this build, and I've just ordered the Haynes Workshop manual on Amazon for this car which also looks like a really good reference.
I do however have a dilemma, I also have a Studio 27 Castrol decal set in the box and I'm very torn between which colour scheme to go for as I do quite like them both!

hi Seamus, I've been building the Castrol Jag from Hasegawa on-and-off for a while and was also planning to use the S27 decal sheet. Then I noticed that while the sheet has all the green body stripes, it does not supply a green decal to cover the main horizontal plane of the rearwing. So you'd have to paint that, & try to match the colour to the decals. Not impossible, but extra work...
whichever you decide to build, I'm sure will be a stunner.

... and while doing it don't forget that the IMSA-car was different from the Group-C car. ( Different tunnels,... i guess Derek can elaborate on that quite a bit )

Re: WIP: 1:24 Tamiya Jaguar XJR-9LM
So here's me thinking this year will be a good year for making a dent in the to-do pile, setting about planning my second build of the year and yet it now seems I already need to buy another kit to go back on the pile!
