I only cut one door...that was headache enough. I suggest you do that before cutting anything else. I used the back of a #11 X-acto blade. It was time consuming, but I had better control. If you cut the nose off, you will want to cut the front splitter off of the floor as well, because it is part of to the nose.seamus wrote:Great minds my friend... although my plan was to only cut out one door, and I'm not 100% sure I want to chop the nose. So how did the cutting go - I'm guessing not easy right? Did you use Tamiya's hand saw or something different?

Re: WIP: 1:24 Tamiya Jaguar XJR-9LM
It took a while to get going on this... but we are at last, going!!!!
The cutting process is complete... one opening door, front removable cowling and the small central cover that will reveal the front suspension units. The door was a tense affair but the rest went reasonably well with no dramas. The floor also needed cutting to replicate the way the actual car is broken down. A fair bit of scratch building is next up in order to box in the exposed internals.

Great start, not to sure I could be that ambitious but it will look fab when done. Which scheme are you going for?

Cutting panels is a bit of a dark art to me. You've made it look very crisp and sharp. Keep at it, and keep posting updates please, this is going to be a lovely build.

Re: WIP: 1:24 Tamiya Jaguar XJR-9LM
Thanks guys,
Alex, it's going to be the Silk Cut '88 Le Mans version!
So, the internal re-building is complete... I added an 'edge' for the front cowling, suspension cover and door to help align them against the body when they are in place. All made from pasticard.
Probably move into the cockpit next...
Thanks for following!

Re: WIP: 1:24 Tamiya Jaguar XJR-9LM
Update,
Started work on the interior... lots of C/F here
The seat in it's basic kit form has moulded belts, these were removed and openings made for some after market belts.
And just about finished, I added flocking (embossing powder) to the seat, I made up a head rest from putty and added the wiring from my reference pictures. The two end sections will be C/F'd last as it was easier to leave this off while handling it.
