@gtziaf: it's all about the pressure :) The balls just fit into the holes, and after applying some pressure (with a scrap piece of plastic) they kind of of "set" inside the holes because they are very soft.

Today's result.. both halves finished. Still some cleaning up/polishing to do & maybe an extra drop of paint on some of the rivets where the coat is very thin.

Did you find the polishing difficult after using the solder balls as rivets?? Did any fall out?

Excellent work! I have to remember the solder balls for rivers. That technique looks perfect to scale.

A small side step this time, did some improvements on the windscreen wipers.
Never liked the original part (sorry bad pic)

Cut away the ugly parts, drilled .3 mm holes
