Hell Of A Ligier JS11
Hi,
Again to motivate myself to get this across the finish line, I've decided to post my WIP.
This is a very basic kit (only 7 spruces & the deformed tires) & I've started off just wanting to build it as it is & leave if close up. But been a trouble seeker, I've decided to change my mind after painting & decaling it (Clear not done yet).
However I'll only detail the engine & chassis area as the 2 side pontoons are already closed up & there is no way I can dismantle them without damaging the paint & decal. The front wheel rims were thin down & details added & will be used with the Tamiya tires. While spinning the wheels. I realised that they are not even round! The rear tires will be from Tamiya but I've yet to figure out & fabricate the rear wheels yet.
Anyway, let the photos tell the story. All comments & assistance are welcome.
Cheers
Lee

Re: Hell Of A Ligier JS11
The battle with the Heller continues: -
1 Replaced all the soft plastic locating pins that were either broken off or non-existent. Tiny screws are also used to replace a few of them. Note the bendy arms.
2 The suspension are actually fixed & will definitely not be able to support the weight of the model. The blue shock tops were drilled across to form a pivot for rotation & on top to punch the shocks shaft through. This will give it some kind of movement to adjust the ride ht instead of breaking the whole assembly off if the wheels floats. Once the whole lot is “on the road”, the top will be capped off with something.
3 Finally assembled the rear suspension at last. Will have to replace the rear top control arms as they seems too thin.
Next will the front end, the top of the fuel tank & adding more details like wiring & plumbing etc.
BTW. There is no front brake cooling ducts supplied with the kit. Will have to figure out a way to fabricate them & the rear wheels.
Cheers & thanks for looking.

Hi Mazyen,
You are almost at the end of one hell of a build - looking real good. Keep calm and build on.

As I have stated before, in my case it was being naive:JamesB wrote:"Only the brave" you know, I love this never give up aproach!

Re: Hell Of A Ligier JS11
Nothing much done last weekend. Just base coated blue over the white of the chassis again as the white does not match the white of the body.
A word of warning. Do not use cling wrap to mask. That's what ruin the perfectly matched white of the chassis in the first place. The darn thing left deep watermarks on the paint which cannot be sanded off.
The seat was roughen by stabbing Mr. Surfacer 500 on it with a worn & hard brush before a coat of primer is sprayed on. The blue of the seat has to be corrected as I didn't get the tone right.
Hopefully will get some time to get more done this weekend.
Cheers

Hmmmm.... time....especially precious modelling time......wait till your girlfriend become your wife ......I also have a teenager & a 9 year old to consume my time besides work. Sometimes fun & most of the time frustrating which is what you get with the title of Papa.
I'm always drooling over Icon's lovely wheels, but eventually my thought is: - I might as well buy & sacrifice a kit for kit bashing & get more spares in the end as they are the cost of a kit.
BTW. I'm still figuring out a simple & economic solution to improve the front of the chassis, especially the rivets.
Looking forward to your updates.
Cheers
Lee
