1/12 Matra MS11
Next up: the Tamiya 1/12 Matra MS11!
Great kit, but it's from the late sixties so we cannot expect the same level of detail and crispness we have gotten used to from Tamiya's later models. My first impression is that the engine (and everything around it) actually looks very nice, tires are very good, surface detail is ok.
The main problem with the kit, as for as I'm concerned, is the interior: all the driver's legroom is taken by a battery compartment from the days that Tamiya also made motorized versions of her kits. So there are no pedals (and no master cylinders) and the main structure just isn't right.
So my main challenge is to fix that: race cars need pedals I will also try to improve the simplified gearstick assembly. For me this is all very exciting because I have never done anything like this before so let's see how it all ends...

Re: 1/12 Matra MS11
Decided to redo the interior structure. Started with creating a support structure from plastic card. The brass rods give some support while cutting and sanding everything to size.

Re: 1/12 Matra MS11
Test fitting some of the new surfaces... nothing glued yet, just tape. Need to check if there is enough space left for the front dampers
That's all for today!
