Fabulous work mate, I just re-read your entire WIP again and you have inspired me to pull my finger out and get on with my current project.

Re: the large numeral decals, it is a good idea to separate the two digits and apply them separately. This will prevent any chance of silvering from appearing between the digits.

I am curious to learn why you needed to re-make the skirts. Were the original parts too badly warped? It looks like you've used wood - wouldn't these also be prone to warpage over time? Please don't take my thoughts as criticism as they are great looking boards, but I wonder if sheet aluminium or sheet styrene would have been a more stable material for this purpose. I'd be happy to read your thoughts.

My last question concerns the seam where the two halves of the tub are joined together. Recent pictures of this area show a very neat looking strip of material which hides the seam really well. Is this a photoetch item which is included in the kit? This was one area which I was wondering about while reading your WIP, and thankfully it is nicely done and as neat and tidy as the rest of your build.

Cheers, Paul

Hello Paul, thanks for your kind words.

The only reason for re-making the skirts was to make them more realistic than any other material simply painted. They were tinted and covered with wood varnish which made them very stiff and strong. I wasn't totally happy with the final result as I applied matt clear at the end so I might still take some of the dull out for a glosier finish.

As for the strip over the seam, it was included in the kit. This is one of the areas I don't see anymore on the newer MFH kits. This kit came with two big sheets of beautiful PE parts, some even duplicated and optional. There are only a few exceptions but recent 1/12 MFH kits come with minimum PE parts.

Cheers.

Small progress on my endless project... the wheels...

The rims come in beautiful polished and anodized aluminum and the whole four wheels consist of around 100 parts. They looked too bright and a little toyish for me so I gave them a slight weathering. I changed the air valves by rbmotion valve stems.

I had some issues with the alignment so still haven't been mounted until alignment is complete.

Excuse the bad pictures, they are taken from a phone and the annoying limit of 256K doesn't help much.

Thank you Cedric.

Hi Turbo, thank you. Yes, these are decals that come with the kit. Not the easiest to center, by the way.

Has been a long time since last post but thought to close the cycle and post a final update. I finally took the time to finish the Ferrari a few months ago. The model made gold and best automobile at local IPMS nationals.

Sorry for the small pictures but I can't do more at the moment with the KB limit.

Cheers.
