Re: Alfa 179c protar 1/12
It's been a long time since this post. I sold this kit and bought the re-edition of Italeri. It's the exact same Kit, but the plastic looks better. Good decals are included that allow you to make both versions ('80, '81, '82) and even the "M@r!b*r*" logos. I hope to start it shortly.
If you have difficulty finding the re-edition of Italeri, I can send it to you from a local store, the kit costs about 120 euros plus shipping.

Hi Spiry,
Could you please explain if the tyres in the new release are made from rubber or are they the same crappy vinyl as the original?
Cheers, Paul

Re: Alfa 179c protar 1/12
There is still a problem with the decal of the number "23" on the nose that is not the exact shades of red used for the bodywork. I tried to print it to the pc but have not yet been satisfactorily resolved. I will replace it in the future if i'll get a better match ! Hope you enjoy it ![/quote]
Spiry, I love your model! have you thought about "Masking" the outline of the #23 on the nose, and using the same paint that you used on the rest of your beautiful model?
Also, I love the History that you shared about the founder of Protar (wasn't he a Pro Motorcycle racer at one time?)..and the person you mentioned from Tamiya!... I love that kind of stuff.
And like you, I love the Protar kits - they are very special, and filled a void in the lack of Tamiya 1/12 scale kits. The only thing I didn't like about them was the material that the tires were made of, and the plastic was very brittle / delicate - but workable. These magnificent kits are fun to build, very detailed, and make you become a much better model builder - as you need to do a lot of planning and checking of part lay-out etc., due to the weak instructions (only as compared to the standard that Tamiya set at the time). I mean, come on!, who else would make a model of the "infamous" T5?...
Thanx, Kirk
