Panel line clean up

Post by Shunter »

Just wondering what is the best to use to clean up excess Tamiya panel line wash? I have used Tamiya TS paint and do not want to damage this at all.
I have some of the AK odorless enamel thinner, but would methylated spirits work or something else?
Cheers

Usually the odorless thinner should work, works on acrylics and they are more fragile then TS paint, but if your unsure, take some time and spray a test piece with TS, apply the panel line and let it dry. Then test if it touches the TS.
White spirit is also quiet often used by airplane modelers, but they also mix their panel line colours often from oil paints, so testing would be the only way to ensure not to damage the basic colour.
Take a stand!

Thanks guys, James I have always had concerns with polishing as I’m going to 2K the body when done. I usually do the panel lines after this but feel they will not be as defined after the cleat.
I feel the polish and 2K might react to each other.

I take a Q tip, dip it in 92% alcohol , squeeze off excess alcohol with my fingers then wipe across panel line. If you go with the line, you'll take out everything. Probably best to wipe across once. It is possible to smear black off and create a bigger mess.
