Red Bull after modelers now?
So, i just received a message from Facebook that a picture of my RB14 built has been removed.
And you wouldn't believe what picture.... a big laugh.
This after a complaint from the Blue team. To me stunning.
So they are not after resellers anymore, but even after modelers?
What in the world....?
I think i will write them and see if i get some explanation on this.

Wow, that's ridiculous, and in someways is censoring pieces of art. It goes against Freedom of Expression, I hope they issue you an apology and accept it as a misunderstanding.

A perfect example of lawyers running amok.
Companies that are particularly dependent on their trademarks to distinguish their products from those of their competitors justify such actions as necessary to protect their intellectual property and become reflexive and unable to exercise any judgment no matter how trivial the perceived "infringement."

I would guess more of an automated software hunting for trademarks. And FB doesn't care what they show or not they just want to have their pieceatlantakat1 wrote:A perfect example of lawyers running amok.

Of course it's idiotic.

Re: Red Bull after modelers now?
So, i wrote them this mail:
Sorry to contact you, but i need to get this from my chest.
Today i received a message from Facebook informing me a picture was removed. This after a complaint from you. I would like to know how in any way it has come to this.
First let me introduce myself. I am a fan of Formula 1 and a scale modeler. So for many years i create models from F1-cars for my own pleasure. On Facebook i have many friends, you can say a community, of other modelers showing their stuff. It's always nice to see how everyone manages the most difficult builds. Sometimes stunning real life models. And we learn the tricks from each other to grow better. It shows the passion of everyone. So i worked on a scale 1/20 model for weeks and decided to show the built of it to my Facebook friends/community. I received some positive remarks on it and being Dutch, i was happy to add a Max Verstappen car to my collection. It totally fits my collection of F1-cars driven by Dutch racing drivers.
So i was very surprised to read about your complaint. I also received a 'threat' from Facebook about deleting my account. Facebook deleted the photo from my Facebook page RacingKars. Just like that. They can't do anything about fraud and scam on Facebook, but this must have been really too much. So i must be a big criminal.
Please keep in mind, i am not a reseller, just a modeler! Are we really this low in today's society and social life/behaviour that Red Bull GmbH is even after modelers now? Not sellers of your 'intellectual property' (i will not even start talking about that), but even modelers? Just spoil their fun in any way you can? You want us to hide our proudly built cars in a closed cabinet? I must say, i am flabbergasted about this behaviour. I think i will put my Red Bull T-shirts and hoody in my clothing closet for now.
Maybe you will not even take time to answer this, but i wanted to give you the opportunity to turn my negative vision on Red Bull GmbH that i have after this incident.
Best regards,

Re: Red Bull after modelers now?
I'd send them the email again through the contact form? It really does seem to be as if its some over-raction on the behalf of that "yellowbrandprotection".

Re: Red Bull after modelers now?
Thats exactly what it is. Red Bull likely farmed this out, so even a picture of an RB6 or RB8 from Tamiya and Revell would likely get caught in it. It looks like the website linked to issue complaints is down as well. I tried in 3 browsers and the white space for a form exists, but there isn't a form. This isn't specifically about modelers either, its anything with a Red Bull logo that I'm sure went beyond what the team actually cares about.daniel wrote:I would guess more of an automated software hunting for trademarks. Regarding the facebook group, I'd recommend asking the group leaders to make the group private. This will stop that in the future.

Re: Red Bull after modelers now?
IMHO, probably concerned about products being unlicensed. Doesn't sound like the "team" is involved.
