Movie revue

Post by tubegenius »

Just saw the new movie "Ford v Ferrari" today. Excellent! Matt Damon is outstanding as Carroll Shelby, and Christian Bale was very good as Ken Miles. I would say my initial reaction was that it is on par with "Rush". Warning to the Tifosi: This movie is roughly 90% about Ford and 10% about Ferrari, but don"t let that stop you from seeing it. Matinee price was $6.00 for 2 1/2 hours of high grade entertainment. Don't miss it!

I would love to watch that movie, but with Ice queen 2, Rambo, Midway, Shaun the sheep, Addams family and several local productions there are so many new movie's that no cinema around here is showing Le Mans 66.
I fear I will have to wait for the Blu-Ray release... :?

Many inaccuracies, but I expected that. Really enjoyed it.

I assumed there would be inaccuracies also, although I am not quite sure what they are. Would you be kind enough to point out the most significant ones? If you feel it would be a spoiler, you could PM me. I'm thinking of picking up 3 Fujimi kits and some Indycals, and building them to represent the infamous photo finish. Thanks.

Edit: I just found out what I needed to know after clicking on the Autoweek article link from the "Penske may buy Mercedes F1 post. Off to the side, is a review of the movie, which points out many of the inaccuracies, while advising potential viewers to chill out and enjoy an excellent movie.

I'd like to hear what the inaccuracies are as well. Please expand.

Saw it yesterday, and thought it was terrific. There were a few typical motor racing film gaffs, but totally forgivable.
The most obvious ones were the scenes at Daytona. In 1966 Daytona had neither painted walls, lighted banking, nor SAFER barriers. Ken Miles lost his life at Riverside Speedway in California, but that clearly didn't look like Riverside. Using CGI they did a remarkable job recreating the look of Le Mans in 1966. Last time I was there in 2003 it bore little resemblance to the Circuit de la Sarthe of that period.
