Tamiya Mazda 787B

Post by jaykay »

Hey guys

Out of curiosity... did anyone of you order and get one of the re-released Mazda 787B kits?
They have obviously been on sale in Japan, as they show up in their Yahoo auctions and on ebay.com for "ambitious" prices.
But did any make it to other shores through regular retail chanels? How big ( or small ) was that production run...?

I believe it was a pretty big run. On the GT groups I'm a part of quite a few said they got it.

EDIT:
Clearly I screwed up when I was in Japan in July and didn't pick up a few!

The only information from Hiroboy calls for "coming soon", no price, no date.
Take a stand!

I heard it's the licence issue, so the sale only goes in Japan.

yes, japan/asia release only.
It was announced as june 29 release, but i never saw prices on ebay/buyee drop, so i assumed kit was not yet available but i now read otherwise. Good to be updated ;-)
A bit strange though prices kept being that high seen new supply...

Yes, that's why i wondered about the production run. They went straight from future release to OOP and prices asked are stupid ( still ).
I bought 2 for less this year on ebay so i'm fine :-)

Yeah I've seen some Japan builders started building the kit, but in China we also don't have this, some dealer opened pre-order before, but then they just cancelled all the order and refunded.

Just to update on my comment...I was in Japan in mid July and saw a ton of them. I suspect that once the general public starts to realize there was a re-release the prices will go down.

So, does this re-release have any upgrades, or is the same exact kit as the last release?

The body of the 2019 reissue (24352) is molded in white instead of orange, which is probably the biggest advantage. Decals are done by Cartograf as the previous reissue (24112), but 2019 reissue lacks some sponsor decals, such as Cibie and Dunlop.
