Hi Roman, the books are ok, but nothing I would read a second time.
The 956 is also a good book, but not so deep into technical stuff like the wingrove book is.
The Porsche books are only a quick overview of the different cars, but nothing deep.
My Favorit Porsche books are.
The Walter Näher 917 book.
The 934/935 book from Jürgen Barth.
The 936 book from Bernd Dobrenz.
The 908 book from Thomas Foedisch.
These are worth every cent. There are some other great books like the story of 917-021 or the book from Glen Smale of the 917.
These are a must and I read them a couple of times.

Those prices are not too bad though. I think I paid a bit over $100 when it came out.
I paid mine 20 euro at Le Mans 3 years ago. I was on sale at their merch store.

Depending on the books about 956 and even 962 on the market, this one is a better book. For sure there are better ones about other cars going more into detail, but when looking for 956 reference material and what is available on market, this book is a must have for modelers, especially at this price! It`s not a small pocket book!!

Edit: Some other 956/962 books which are interesting too, but they are long sold out and at a total different price!

Hi Christian,

thanks for the heads-up. I've just finished reading the Wingrove book and loved every minute of it. I'm currently reading
"Porsche 917, die Helden, die Siege, der Mythos" which so far is an ok book, more towards the actual races and comments
from the drivers about the car, etc. than details about the car. But still, I've browsed through it at the Le Mans trackside
museum once, and thought enough of it to buy it at a later time for less. It's entertaining, but as you said of other books,
reading it once may be enough. I'm currently half way through. The Näher book is probably the next one I'm going to read.
It was the first of the 917 books I bought years ago. The 917-021 story s about the restoration of that car, right? That may
make it onto short list as well, as does the 908 book you've mentioned. I'll add both to the shopping list... oh well ;)
Cheers,
Roman

I painted the room where my cabinet and the book shelf stands last weekend.
I was afraid how much books there are when i put it onto each other.
And there are my latest to read books not included.
Two very high and heavy towers. My wife only shakes her head when she saw that.

Do you have links to any of these Christian??

Thanks Jason, I bought the English version. Not scared to pay what a book is worth to get one I can read. Plus it matches the style of the 917 book by the same author that I have.

Hi Derek,

EN: Porsche 917: Archives and Works Catalogue 1968 - 1975 (English and German Edition) Bilingual Edition (author: Walter Näher)
EN: Porsche 908: The Long Distance Runner (author: Thomas Foedisch)

DE: Porsche 917: Archiv und Werkverzeichnis 1968 – 1975 (author: Walter Näher)
DE: Porsche 908: Seriensieger, Spezialist und Dauerläufer (author: Thomas Foedisch)
DE: Porsche 934/935: Die komplette Dokumentation / Reprint der 1. Auflage 2012 in Farbe (author: Jürgen Barth / Bernd Dobronz)
DE: Porsche 936 (author: Bernd Dobronz)

Notice how the English or bilingual version are usually more expensive. You can find the 936 book on Amazon.com as well,
but note that that is also the German version. I usually try to get those used in good or very good condition. The Näher book
is also available in another colour. I think mine is an older version and has a blue-gray wrap.
Cheers,
Roman

Oh man Roman, you are to fast for me.
Just started to create the list for Derek and you was already done with your.

Making big eyes when i saw the price for the english version of the Näher 917 book.
They get nuts.
But your first release version with the blue-grey color was also very expensive when it was out of production.
But two years later the re-released it with the red color for a way cheaper price.

And i do the same strategy like Roman.
A used, but very good condition one is good enough for me.

By the way: @ Roman: i saw that the 934/935 is a new release with more color pics instead the b/w ones.Do you have this version or the older first release one?Thinking about to replace my old one ,which was often read, and get the new one.

It was just part of my morning routine during a boring telco at work :P. Check the MFH site, go through the forums...

As for the 934/935 book. Nope, I haven't gotten either version. The 934/5 is not currently on my list. Not with the
917 addiction and all :P. I have been eyeballing the Tamiyas 1/12 for some time, but I don't feel like paying for the
asking prices and to not tempt the "WANT!" I'm also holding out on the books for those cars :).
Cheers,
Roman
