Kit Review - Tamiya 1/20 Red Bull Racing Renault RB6
Re: Kit Review - Tamiya 1/20 Red Bull Racing Renault RB6
Any idea why they included the helmet? Especially as there are no decals?
Do we know if an RB7 is in the works from the big T?

Perhaps, when the tooling was being done, the plan was to include helmet decals, but then they found they couldn't get the necessary clearances, by which time it was cheaper to leave the helmet on the sprues than to retool.

I remember the Tamiya Benetton B188 had a crash helmet included but no decals to accompany it. Nothings new...

Any word on the TS-89 after all these years? My shops look at me like i'm nuts until I show them what Tamiya calls for. Anybody have a good substitute Blue for this kit?

Mine has gone on the back burner, but I did manage to spray a few pieces with Scale Finishes Red Bull Blue and was happy with the color.

Look under "Racing Colors", then "Racing Colors Basecoat".
I've been very happy with their paint.
Cheers,
Greg

TS-89 seems readily available - I picked up a couple of cans over Christmas at a LHS. Mail order should work for you?Mario1fan wrote:Any word on the TS-89 after all these years? I have not found it in the USA. Gave up and was planning on using a gun metal base coat followed by the TS-51

Mail order runs the risk of being intercepted and you lose your investment.
With the cost of the paint and international shipping it's quite expensive.
I'm interested to see how that scale finished paint looks. Can you add a pic vanhook?

Damn..., seems like members in the States still can't get the dedicated TS-89 for the car... I purchased my rattle can a year ago... (Though I still haven't made the kit.)
Tamiya's missing out on a business opportunity here. TS-89 would sell like hotcakes in the US, for you guys with spray guns.
