Ferrari 312PB 1973 Le Mans - MFH 1/43 (Finished)
Hello guys... Another project is about to start. The well-known 312Pb from MFH 1/43 kit. Maybe, as you remember I already built the 1/24 version (https://www.f1m.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... ilit=312pb) in the past, but this time is the long tail, Le Mans Version.
I plan to build the # 16 car drove by Arturo Merzario and Carlos Pace to pole position in qualify and 2nd overall during the race.
Many parts (photo from the web) contained as always with good details but no wiring at all. Also, the average, metal parts, cast quality is here.
I love this car, so can wait to publish the first update.
All the best.
George

Re: Ferrari 312PB 1973 Le Mans - MFH 1/43
Hello for your welcome posts guys. Time for the first update
I make some preparation work for the body parts. Major cleaning, sanding and some plasticard to make them fit, is what I did.
The major problem is the rear hood, which is wider than what kit needs Also, the oil radiator need more space, so I sanded the engine lid from inside. Finally, I cut the gearbox length, a little bit, to bring rear wheels to the center of the wheel arch.
Hope you found it useful.
All the best

Great job gtziaf, I'm already a huge fan of the metallic weathering! It'll make for a gorgeous looking model once it's finished.
Plus, I don't know why, but I've always prefered the 1/43 scale when it comes to car modeling. But then, I've always liked small scale stuff, be it 1/144 planes, 1/72 armour, 1/1200 ships...

Good start George, the kit seems to have some major fitting issues, this will be a hard job!
But finaly i`m pretty sure you come up with another jewel

Thanks, guys...
Off course 1/43 is not my preferable scale. I still prefer the 1/24 models but is a great challenge. So I enjoy it.

Re: Ferrari 312PB 1973 Le Mans - MFH 1/43
Hello again and have a nice April.
More preparation work was done during the past days. As always in MFH's there are many issues which need to solve, before starting the real painting and assembly.
So, I prime the body parts to make thicker and as close as possible, to final assembly situation. Of course, these parts will be even thicker with the clear coat over it, but nothing to do about it. Before this, I try to make the metal body parts to fit better with each other. And then the party begin.
Firstly I check the roll bar. As you imagine the rear hood needs trimming.
Then the rear wheels... They are in the absolute edge of the rear hood. I trim the rim central part (from inside) to make them fit better...

Re: Ferrari 312PB 1973 Le Mans - MFH 1/43
After that, I start to add more parts to the temporary assembled car to make the necessary adjustments. Major reshape needed to airboxes. There is no way to insert them in the correct position, under the roll bar without doing this...
When I manage to insert them, I realize that the hood did not fit again. So, yes you are correct... I trim it
Then, I make another temporally fitting with and without the air boxes to see how the body fits on each occasion.
That's it... More will come soon.
