Magic

Doesn't it happen to you that there are certain products that mysteriously breed inside your drawers? One comes to think that there is a mischievous or evil being dedicated to multiplying them, but no, we regret to tell you that it is something more common than we would like. You enter the SpotModel website and you buy a model or a photoetch, you think: "Do I have black paint? Oops, I don't remember, so I'll order a bottle". After three months you return to the website: "As far as I can remember... I don't have any, so I better order it". And one day, when you decide to tidy up your drawers, you realize that you have eight identical bottles of paint. XD

It may feel like magic, but it really isn't. We just couldn't remember and, just in case, we added one more bottle, one more sandpaper, and one more putty to our new order because we're not sure if we have any left... How many times has this happened to you? To me my drawer tells me that more than a few: six identical sandpapers, eight unused black paint bottles, three tubes of putty... I'd better stop counting.

At SpotModel we are delighted that our order volume is growing, and although our newsletter should always serve the purpose of selling more, following a suggestion from one of our users we have added a couple of new features to help you solve this "magical" issue. Go MFH !!!

A few weeks ago we told you the sad news of the passing of the founder of Model Factory Hiro. However, recently we have received with great joy the news that Mrs. Kyoko Hiro takes over the presidency of the company and that the operation of the brand continues with a firm hand. Great!!!

Proof of this is that our supplies from Japan continue to arrive punctually at SpotModel's warehouse and that the schedule of new releases is still being filled with VERY interesting material. Like the 1/12 scale Auto Union Type-C, the 1/43 scale reeditions of the Jaguar XJR-9 LM that raced the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988 and 1989 or the McLaren Honda MP4/5B, and the release in 1/12 scale that we will receive in a few weeks: none other than the Honda RA301 E. We are happy guys!!!

Stone Models

At SpotModel we always have our doors open to new manufacturers that arrive to the market, and these days we are celebrating the addition of the Stone Models (formerly known as F1Stone) references to our catalogue.

Have you taken a minute to observe the impressive details of their pieces? For example, brake calipers with built-in bleeders and transfer tubes between both sides of the calipers, or separate and differentiated hubs depending on the wheel on which they are mounted. We believe that from today onwards no one will install a single wheel on their F1 builds again in order to keep these fantastic pieces visible. Everyone get some scratch trestle stands ready!!!

As if that were not enough, among their references we find one of those cars that are unique only because of their rarity, the Andrea Moda, from those times when truly private teams still had a place in F1. Although they rarely qualified for the race, they gave atmosphere and color to the F1 paddock.

We are really delighted to welcome the friends of Stone Models to SpotModel. At this rate, soon we will even be able to purge circuits, and we will have to periodically check the liquid levels of our models... XD

Les Charlots

In the 1960s, the musical group "Les Charlots" was born in France and first became known for their songs and then for their films, which had a curious comic style full of continuous jokes.

One of the most famous films was "Le Grand Bazar", which was promoted in a beautiful Porsche 911 in the 1973 Tour de Corse, characterized by including the caricatures of Les Charlots on the sides of the car, as well as the name of the movie in big blue letters.

This curious and striking vehicle has caught the attention of the guys at Decalcas who have just announced to us that the livery will be available shortly, to be used on the Porsche 911 RS by Fujimi. It's always good to put a little humor in your models, right?

Unique beauty

We all agree that these days all cars are similar, designers copy each other and it is difficult to see something groundbreaking, something different, a vehicle that is really stands out from the others. Strong personality and exclusive design, terms that were undoubtedly key words in 20th century cars, have now taken a backseat. Although from time to time a glimmer of hope emerges...

The attractive circles in the image of this newsletter are proof of what we are talking about. Is it necessary to say the name of the vehicle? No, it's not. It is a car with so much personality that just by looking at the exhausts we all know what machine we are talking about. And we love that.

In the early years of the Paris Dakar rally, only a handful of brave and crazy people accepted the challenge of running the toughest endurance rally in the world. In the 1984 edition, an impressive MAN machine, sponsored by Rothmans, gave support to the Porsche 911 Carrera 4x4 (953) that would win the Dakar. A few years have passed since that time and the imposing appearance of the all-wheel drive super truck with its eight enormous wheels still leaves us speechless.

Well now comes the good stuff: DAB Models announces the release in 1/43 scale of the model of this beautiful truck. This product is made with 3D printing equipment and is designed for advanced modelers looking to go further with their scale models. They include the decals with the Dakar numbers for years 1984 and 1985, and once assembled it measures almost 24 cm long!!

Marsh Models

For some time now the boss had been planning to put together a 1/43 scale model from an English manufacturer unknown for a vast majority: Marsh Models. Located at the south of England, they focus their production on Can Am and Le Mans racing cars. Basically a lot of McLarens and a lot of Chaparrals, the occasional Porsche and Ford, and a few other four-wheeled delights from a glorious motor age. Many of them are also machines with truly extraordinary designs!!

And what can we find inside one of their boxes? Well, there are good quality resin parts, as well as the decals, and from time to time some white metal pieces and turned metal pieces, all fitting very correctly. And in a flash, the model is assembled and there's a smile on your face. As expected, the boss has already assembled one and now he wants more...

To keep the boss entertained we have decided to add Marsh Models products to SpotModel. Intake trumpets

With a grille on top, with a pad, hidden under a plastic dome or free like the wind that runs through them, intake trumpets can be found fitted in many ways. Some are made of polished steel, others are made of light aluminum, and there are also some made of carbon...

They are important and very visible parts in competition engines of all eras, and it is quite common that plastic manufacturers do not pay too much attention to these beautiful and characteristic parts. What does this translate into? That the engine that we have just finished building, packed with cables, screws and nut details that we have made with so much love, is overshadowed by some out-of-scale, mediocre, undetailed and dull intake trumpets.

Luckily we can offer you some new products that will solve this important problem. Thus, for example, Model Factory Hiro has developed the set of intake trumpets, injectors and distributor for the DFV engines in 1/20 and 1/12 scales, all executed in turned metal, white metal and photo-etched parts. And on their side, Falcon Scale Models has done the same but customized for the Lotus type 79 by both Tamiya and Hasegawa, solved with 3D printing, and with a very interesting addition: the curved grille that covers the air inlet to the intake trumpets.
