Les Garagites at SMW 14

Post by alexpayne »

Hi Guy's,
Well another busy weekend at Telford has been and gone. Our table this year had a centre theme dedicated to a "Hero" from each one of us. Else where we had themed "boards" from Ferrari-Lotus-McLaren-Kawasaki-Ford and "Martini".
The last few pics are the fantastic Lotus 72 built by Mike, one of our members. It took first in class and best vehicle.
Hope you enjoy (PS I need a new camera!!)

Great photos Alex and thanks for posting them. Always good to see models from shows. I note the card about Chris Amon describing him as the unluckiest driver in F1. Chris has publicly commented in New Zealand media a couple of times he thinks of himself as having been immensely lucky because he got out of his Formula 1 career alive. One thing is certain about Chris, he drove an enormous range of racing cars and while I've never compared other drivers to him in this regard, I suspect he has driven in more iconic (or former iconic!) brands of racing car than any other driver in living memory. Quite a feat.

Wonderful display as usual Alex - unfortunately I didn't make it this year- by all accounts another great show.
Please convey my good wishes to one and all of the "Garagistes guys"!
Cheers Paul
